Differences
My wonderful boyfriend T is possibly the greatest guy in the world. Now, you’re either thinking Awww or Ewww depending on your mood and personality. T and I are alike in many ways, but we can also be VERY different. Since we have been dating since 2003 we pretty much know everything about each other. I am able to easily identify how he will handle a situation. It’s usually very different than how I would do it. I’m not saying that this is a bad think, in fact I think it’s a good thing. I’m not going to give you a mile long list about our differences and how it helps us have a stronger relationship blah blah blah. But I would like to share a little thing that makes me smile.
Our weekends are usually pretty relaxed. We sleep in (OK I sleep in), we watch movies, we go out to eat, we pretty much veg-out. We usually do one like Real thing during the weekend, like going to see something/do something semi-cool. If we had a lot of money we would probably go yachting or learn how to fly planes or whatever it is that really rich people do on the weekends.
Whenever we go places like the zoo, or an amusement park, or wherever T always needs to get a map. I on the other hand, would usually forget to grab a map and would soon find myself wandering aimlessly wondering if I had already seen that particular exotic bird. He’s the type of guy who likes have a plan of action. He doesn’t like to just wander. It’s a waste of time and energy. He will take a look at the map of the particular location, see how much time we have to spend, and miraculously come up with an exact speed that we must travel to get the job done. Now, I suppose I could do this myself-but that would require effort. No thanks. I’ll just wander around till I think that I’ve seen everything and then leave.
His need to map routes and have a specific plan of action may be due to the fact that he’s an engineer. They are weird like that. Very detail oriented and exact. While we were at the zoo I snapped a pic of T doing his map thing.
I dont’ know why he wore jeans that day-it was really hot and humid. And we almost broke up on the way into the park because he didnt’ want to bring his hat and I “made” him go back to the car and get it. Note:he reluctantly wears a hat because if you haven’t noticed he has no hair on his head to protect his skin from boiling under the Houston sun.
Anyway…
I am actually pretty thankful for T’s need to map routes when we do this type of stuff. We are able to see the most stuff, while taking the shortest route. I know this is just a minuscule fragment of our differences, but I thought it was worth sharing. Another bonus is that I always end up with maps to put in my scrapbook.
I may also just be overly amused by T’s mapping skills because of my complete inability to read a map. Even a primary colored map of a zoo with arrows and animals all over it.
T says: Map reading and route planning is A O K!
