Dove Inspiration

I love me some chocolate.  Candy bars, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered pretzels.  If it’s got chocolate in it, I will for sure love it.  There’s just something about chocolate.  I can smell it from a mile away and start salivating.  Kinda like a dog.  But I don’t really like to compare myself to a dog.  It doesn’t help my image.

Since I’m getting older and experiencing more culinary cuisine, I am starting to notice the difference between so-so chocolate and delicious chocolate.  I’m hoping to move past the quantity over quality.  I’m always trying to tell myself that the tenth cookie tastes exactly the same as the first one.  That’s good advice, right?  It’s not always easy to live by that.  But I’m a work in progress.  Weight loss is my goal and that won’t be happening if I keep indulging in chocolate goodies.  Time for a change.

This past weekend, I purchased a crap ton of groceries.  Most of which will support a healthy diet.  One of those items was a small box of Dove chocolate.  Dove makes such wonderful chocolate.  Try some when you get a chance.  Normally, when I’m on a diet-I wouldn’t even think of buying a box of chocolate.  Sure, I’d have all intentions of eating one a day, but that would never work out.  I’d scarf down the whole box in two days tops.  But my new plan is not to deny myself chocolate.  I need to have the will power to eat these goodies in moderation.  Easier said than done, but that’s the plan.  I need a plan.

I didn’t buy just any Dove chocolate.  I bought a box of the new Dove Vitalize chocolate.  It supposedly is enriched with stuff that’s good for you.  And it’s dark chocolate, which does have some antioxidants and crap like that in it.  Dark chocolate, good dark chocolate is not something that you can overindulge in.  Well maybe you can, but it would totally make me sick if I did.  But it’s good and smooth and rich.  I’m thinking that this one piece of chocolate a day plan could really work!  It’s my way of rewarding myself after a successful day of healthy eating and exercising.

I’m really thinking that this is going to work.  I havent’ really lost any weight yet, but I haven’t gorged myself on food and I’ve been exercising.  Woohoo.  Monday was a good day.  I had my little piece of dark chocolate.  And it was delicious and surprisingly satisfying.  Progress.

If you’re a fan of Dove chocolate, you know that the beautiful foil wrapper that they comes in is filled with a little surprise-a quote, words of wisdom, whatever you want to call it.  I love the one that was in my chocolate today:

The real secret of success is enthusiasm.

Is there anything more true about life?  Well-besides death and taxes, but I like to keep my posts light and fluffy. Not dark and dreary.  I really like this quote.  It’s true-nothing you do will ever be successful without enthusiasm.  Enthusiasm is the key to successful dieting.  Dieting, and losing weight isn’t always easy.  But you have to keep a positive attitude.  Enthusiasm is key.  Without it-you’d fail.

So…enthusiasm is my new bff.  We are tight.  I think this little quote might be what I need to remember when I feel like skipping the gym and eating Pizza Rolls instead.  Man, I love those pizza rolls.

Thanks Dove!  You rock my socks.
