God Bless Texas
Growing up in a small town in the lovely state of Michigan, I somehow created a visual of what I thought Texas was going to look like. Through television and movies I had created an idea that Texas was all about cowboys, tumbleweeds, and barbeque. I always thought that Texas would be the kind of state that I would be into. I love horses and cowboys are total babes. I couldn’t ask for a more fitting place to live.
If I had lots of money and didn’t need to live in a big city to actually have a job, I would definately live in the country in Texas. But….Houston here I am. It’s a BIG city. It’s not exactly the country side, but it’s not far from it. One of the recent trips that I planned for the residents that I work with was taking a bus ride through the country side to see the Bluebonnets. If you don’t know, Bluebonnets are the state flower of Texas. I didn’t even know what a Bluebonnet was until I moved to Texas. We only drove about an hour out of Houston and we ran in to exactly what I was hoping for.

I love this picture. I was lucky enough to be able to spend a few hours driving through fields filled with longhorns, horses, and wildflowers. I was just wonderful. After being ‘stuck’ in this concrete jungle called H-Town it was nice to know that the country side isn’t too far away. It’s comforting in a way to know that this beautiful land still exists somehwhere.
When I become a millionaire, I’m going to purchase some land in Texas. I’m going to have longhorns, horses, donkeys, goats, etc. But-since I’ll be a millionaire, I’ll be able to pay someone to look after the animals when I feel like going to the city and doing cool city-type stuff.
I’m really a torn girl. I’m like the Country Mouse-City Mouse all mashed into one person. I want to have a farm full of animals and beautiful land, but would like to be able to see the skyscrapers in the distance. Texas isn’t exactly what I had imagined it to be. I haven’t seen an actual tumble weed. But I can’t complain. It seems to satisfy my need for big city living with the availability of big country living. Whoops….”livin.” Texans don’t use the letter G. And that’s perfectly fine with me.
Happy Monday yall!
