Time Alone

T’s Mom and Dad are on their way to Galveston, Texas.  We got them a 3 day-2 night stay at a fancy shmancy resort on the ocean for their 25th Wedding Anniversary.  Of course..it’s not the prettiest ocean, but still the ocean.  And that’s all that really matters when you’re from the frigid north.  It’s ocean.  Sure, there’s dead fish and dirt floating in the water, but whatever.

I’m just really hoping that they have a nice time together.  As a couple.  They probably haven’t been anywhere by themselves since their honeymoon in 1983.  (I am now aware that they didn’t go on a honeymoon, frick!).  They’ve been places together, but there was always a kid or relative with them.  So it was high time that they went and did something with each other even if it’s only for 72 hours.  I’m also hoping that they don’t kill each other.  They tend to get on each others nerves.  A lot.  And the fact that Mark is a truck driver doesn’t help much either.  He is usually gone most of the time, leaving Dawn to hold down the fort by herself.  And the less time you spend with your significant other the more annoying their habits are when you get together again.  And don’t give me that, “Distance makes the heart grow fonder” crap.

When Thursday night hits and they return to our apartment we are all heading out somewhere for the weekend.  Any of you Texas folks out there?  Where should we go for the weekend?  What should we see and do?  The fact that I’m an Activity Planner doesn’t mean that I’m actually more capable of planning a trip than a regular person.

But since T is home on vacation till July 7th!  I think he can handle a weekend itinerary.  It’s going to get really annoying when I come home from a hard day at work to find him snoozing on the couch surrounded by potato chips and pop cans.  I guess the fact that he has to fly back to Nigeria soon makes it OK.  He deserves some time at home to just chillax.

Have a great day everyone!
