Photogenic

Throughout my life I’ve been told that I’m a photogenic person.  Now I don’t want you to think that this is a post that’s all about me and how beautiful and gorgeous and amazingly good looking I am.  Oh-did I go a little overboard there?  Sorry.  But I like to keep it real here at PLSF and it’s just something that I wanted to share with you.

I think it takes plain luck to be one of those photogenic people.  It doesn’t really matter how pretty or handome someone is, being photogenic is luck.  We all know those really pretty people who just don’t look good in photos.  No matter how hard they try.  If you are one of those people-I’m sorry.

Being photogenic is a little luck and a little knowing what angles/poses/smiles etc. make you look good.  If you feel like you always look awful in photos take a minute to look through some pictures of yourself.  Then next time there’s a camera around be sure that you suck in your gut, keep your chin up, smile nicely, make sure your hair/makeup is perfect, always keep your eyes open, and make sure there isn’t food in your teeth.  Easy as pie!  ;)

I’m not one of those people that avoids cameras.  I don’t mind being in pictures, which may help with my photogenic-ness (?) I am constantly seeing pictures of myself so I know what works and what doesn’t.  My Mom on the other hand avoids cameras like the plague.  She hates seeing pictures of herself.  Even if you hate how you look in pictures let people capture you on film every once in a while.  Pictures mean so much to me and I love looking back at pictures of people.  Especially friends and family who I don’t get to see often.

Anyways…got all mushy-gushy there for a sec.  Sorry.

Another aspect of being photogenic is that it’s not a 100% guarantee against bad photos.  Even the best of us end up with a few photos that should be permanently deleted from our hard drives.  And I don’t want all of you thinking that I’m always super good looking.  I want to show you all that I’m a real person too.  Just because I’m a famous blogger doesn’t mean that I can’t avoid the occasional photo faux pas.  (You do know I’m just kidding right?)

The photo that I’m going to share with you today was taken a few weeks ago while T’s parents were here on their surprise vacation.  We were touring Galveston and decided to stop at a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream shop.  Photo Op!

…or not.

WTF

WTF

Don’t worry we’ll get closer so you can see my disfigured face.  From afar it doesn’t look like too bad of a picture (minus the monkey toes and knock knees).  But really, the face is what makes a photo.

Just not this face:

OMG

OMG

Now that’s natural beauty right there.

I’m blaming this one on the photographer…

T's Face

T's Face

I’m talking about the one on the right!  He has no clue about being photogenic.  No I take that back…he does, but doesn’t care.  Love you hunny!  :)

Have a great day everyone!

  1. love the T, but he looks the retarded kid on the porch in Deliverance in this pic…….chin up, T, chin up…..speaking of that, look at any photo of my husband and you can’t help notice the “chin up” rule in serious use……so very irritating.

  2. I just had the photogenic conversation with a few of my friends! I agree, it just so happens to be luck if you have it or not, its kind of like the color of eyes…you have no choice in the matter.

I know how I look the best in pictures, so I always stand that way and always have the same smile. My Mom actually gets mad at me when I show her any of our pictures because she wants another pose. Guess I need to work on it to master another so I look the best for Mom!

  3. Hi honey! I was having a pretty rough day until I seen the great picture I took of you. I had forgotten about it, thanks for making my day! I love it!

  4. Sub Mom: I will have to see if I have any ‘good’ pictures of your husband. :)

Nicole: I know what you mean about always having the same look in pics. I should do one of those like fast forward video things and take a pic of myself once a month for ten years. The only thing that would change is wrinkles and saggies boobs. But the smile would be exactly the same.

T: You need a photography class.

  5. That was very funny, and I don’t know you from Adam. Gotta love a woman who can laugh at her own beauty… well, and make fun of her man’s publicly. I actually got a hearty belly laugh outta that one. Thanks, –fcm

  6. If I had taken that pic of you, you would have said “You cannot take pictures” or “You don’t know how to use that camera ” or the old standby “Well, everybody says we look just alike”

  7. “the old standby”…..hahahahaha…..!
