Cheaper Isn’t Always Better

I’m cheap.  I don’t like to spend a lot of money on things.  When I purchase an unnecessary item like clothing or a picture frame or whatever I have to REALLY like it to spend money on it.  You wouldn’t know that from the massive amount of crap that I have stuffed into my tiny apartment, but I do like all that crap.  I probably love all that crap.  But I’m also one who loves throwing stuff out, cleaning out the closet, simplifying.  I’ve recently been inspired by this website:  www.zenhabits.com

Weekly tips and advice about how to simplify your life.  One way is to stop buying so much crap.

But I digress.  This post isn’t about buying crap or not buying crap.  It’s really about the value of your money and the value of what you will and will not spend it on.  Sometimes it’s worth it to spend a few extra bucks to get something of quality.  Dental work for example.  You wouldn’t necessarily go to the cheapest Dr. in town.  You might come out looking like this guy.

He’s a very dissatisfied customer!

I think that haircuts fall into the category of value.  Spend a little more to get a little more.

I’m not sure if I’d go to this joint to get my hair cut.  I’m all about saving money, but come on.

$2.99

$2.99

I saw this sign in downtown Houston recently.  I had seen a few $4.99 signs, but this is the lowest of the low.   This business runs on the quantity over quality profit model.  Not sure if that’s really were you want to go for a quality hair cut.

Unless of course…you happen to be this guy.

Then I think a $2.99 hair cut would do the job.

  1. Maybe Hurley got a $2.99 cut!

  2. Step Up 2….how lame!

  3. Guess maybe I should raise my prices!!!! he he

  4. I know the post isn’t about buying stuff but I have to giggle at this post because I think the same way you do! I refuse to pay full price on clothing or much less anything . If its not on sale…much less clearance I refuse to buy it. I will drop some money on getting my hair done though! Now my husband will walk in a store and just grab anything, he doesn’t even look at the price tag. I have heart failure when I shop with him!

I think the cat got mad and got Hurley’s ears when you weren’t looking…

  5. I live in a studio apartment & all my things occupy every sq.ft . + I have my finished paintings all over the floor. Crap ! I need to move. :-(

  6. I feel your pain! But I think if I had a bigger aparment or house, I’d just fill it up with crap. :) Thanks for visiting AND commenting!

  7. yeah, I definitely don’t wanna get a hair cut that costs less than a taco hell quesadilla
