Stop the Insanity
Remember that lady, Susan Powter? She was a late night infomercial fitness guru with a bleached buzz cut. According to some Internet information she’s traveling the country in a Winnebago teaching fitness classes and writing books. Who knew?
She has nothing to do with this post but I have to thank her for coining the term, Stop the Insanity. I’m guessing she was/is referring to the fact that Americans were killing themselves with fast food and laziness. She’s was/is totally correct. Let’s move on to today’s post. I apologize for the fact that I’m easily *plastic bag…plastic bag…plastic bag* distracted.
The insanity that I’m referring to is actually about another term that was ‘coined’ a few years ago. Any guesses?
I’m talking about most annoying phrase ever created! And we have this guy to blame…

Yes, that’s “Larry the Cable Guy,” popular member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. If you haven’t been living in a cave for the past few years you probably know what phrase I’m talking about.
AhhhhhhOhhhh…I don’t even want to type it. Ok, fine.
“Git R Done”
Oh, I just feel strange now. And I can’t type it without saying it outloud to myself. I’m sure you just said it to yourself too. Don’t deny it.
When the Blue Collar Comedy craze hit, I was on board. I love the style of comedy and laughed a lot the first two of three times I watched the movies. My favorite comic on the show is Ron White. You know, the guy who drinks and smokes during the whole show? My least favorite is Larry the Cable Guy. I have nothing against him personally, he’s just a little too redneck for my taste. But this phrase craze that he has created is wreaking havoc on my life. Ok, not really but it does annoy me. I can deal with watching Larry blurt this out during his comedy act, but now it’s an everyday phrase that I’ve heard walking through the grocery store or on the radio. It’s like a computer virus. Annoying and hard to get rid of.
When those words roll off the lips of someone in my vicinity it just makes my skin crawl. I immediately pass judgement about that person relating to their personality, level of education, type of vehicle they drive, and what they favorite alcoholic beverage is. When I pass judgement, I get specific.
Being new to Texas I’m learning lots of new phrases like, Fixinta. “She’s fixinta have a baby soon.” And although, Git R Done is not a new phrase, I’ve heard it a lot in the Lone Star State.
And just recently I saw it slapped on the back of a semi. Oh dear god…
You know the dude who drives this big rig has worked hard to insert his favorite phrase into his everyday conversation. His CB handle is probably “Larry the Cable Guy.”
If any of you out there enjoy using this phrase and are offended by the fact that I’m making fun of you, get over it. And stop making yourself sound like an uneducated moron. You’ll thank me for it someday.
