Man Trip ‘08

Thank you for visiting PLSF today.  It’s you’re lucky day as today is a monumental day.

I’m announcing Man Trip ‘08.

What the heck is Man Trip ‘08?

Well…it’s just that.  It’s a Men Only trip that happens to be taking place in the year 2008.  Duh.  Man Trip consist of T and Big A (T’s lil bro).  This morning at approximately 3 a.m. T and Big A will be departing on Man Trip ‘08.  I say approximately 3 a.m. because that was what they had on their itinerary at the time of post creation.  I’m assuming that it will be more like 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m.  Man Trip ‘08 is going to be taking over PLSF for the next 7 days.  I will post other things too, but the focus will be MT ‘08.  I pretend to have interesting stuff to say that pertains to me and my life but in reality…not so much.  Luckily I have a boyfriend who does semi-interesting stuff that I can share with all of you.

Man Trip ‘08 is a gift from T to Big A.  Big A recently graduated from high school and will soon be on his way to college.  It’s sort of a male bonding thing.  Here’s a lovely little spreadsheet that you can take a peek at to get most every detail about the entire trip.  I think in a past life, T was a travel agent.  If you click on the image you can see it in a larger format.

MT ‘08 is going to include popular tourist sites such; Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Roswell and Carlsbad Caverns.  That is one heck of a trip!  I’m sure there will be other stops along the way like the World’s Largest Walnut and the Bunny Ranch.  I’m pretty jealous that I’m not going on this trip as I never been to any of those places.  I’ve been putting on a happy face ever since this plan went into motion a few months ago.  “You two will have so much fun!” and “I’m so glad that you and you’re brother are doing this together!”  But on the inside, I’m thinking…I wanna go too!  But not only am I jealous of the fact that they will get to see those sites, but also of the fact that they will have that sibling bonding time.  I think it’s great that T and Big A can get along like friends.

To kick off the first installment of Man ‘08 I’m going to let you know a little bit about what went into the food aspect of the trip.  They are going to be camping in the Grand Canyon for a couple days so they didn’t need that much food.  Monday night after dinner we went to Neighborhood Wally World to get the boys their groceries.  T said that they needed Man Food.  Man Food involves the most important food groups like cheese, meat, chips, and pop.  There wasn’t a piece of fruit or a vegetable in sight.  During the shopping trip I suggested that they might enjoy some healthy granola to snack on during the drive.  I was quickly shot down by T.  “Granola is for sissies!  That’s NOT Man Food!”  I’m sorry…I didn’t realize that it had to be highly processed and include random cuts of meat to qualify as Man Food.

I kept my mouth shut for the rest of the shopping trip.  I obviously didn’t know what Man Food was.

$68.00 later the boys had acquired all the necessary Man Food items to tide them over for the short camping trip and some random snacking.  I’m sure Taco Bell will also be another major food staple along the trip as well.

This is what they ended up with.  This is Man Food.

Man Food

It’s not a lot of food.  I’m sure I would have ended up with twice as much if I had done the shopping.  So I guess…they are frugal.  Very unhealthy, but frugal.

Here’s a list of the food items in case you can’t see the nutritional staples from the pic:

  • Hawaiian Punch
  • Dr. Pepper
  • Coke Zero
  • Hot dogs
  • Cheddar Wursts (I didn’t even know these existed)
  • Ham
  • Hard Salami
  • Case of Swiss Rolls
  • Case of Mini Powdered Donuts
  • Miracle Whip
  • Ketchup  (Men only need two condiments)
  • String Cheese
  • Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Air Heads
  • Cheezy Puffs
  • Hot Dog Buns
  • Bread (the whitest possible)
  • Paper plates
  • Cool Ranch Doritos
  • Plastic Forks

And that my female friends is Man Food.  If you’re wondering what your man and his pals would like for their next adventure don’t fret.  Just go into the store and fill your shopping cart with the least healthy foods possible.  Look for processed, dyed, and full of preservatives.  Avoid the fresh produce section and look for things that can kept unrefridgerated for at least 12 years.

I hope you don’t mind the Man Trip ‘08 updates throughout the next week or so.  T will be sending me information such as; statistics, facts, money spent, staying on schedule and possibly some pictures during their trip.  Since I’m not there and don’t even have a single day of vacation available…I will sight see vicariously through T and Big A.  I’m sure I’ll have a lovely time.

The boys are really excited to embark on this adventure.  I knew that I wanted to give them a little something to show them how much I love them and help them show the rest of the world that they are in fact Super Excited for Man Trip ‘08.

What’s a better form of spirit then matching T-Shirts.

I think they look excited.  Don’t you?

T-Shirts!

T-Shirts!

They felt as though the feminine colors added to the ironic humor of the actual title of the trip.  I totally get it.  Although some people might get a different idea about what the Man Trip actually is.

  9. That’s man food? Damn, I need to check my gender then ;) Looks delish to me. But it’s all too organized for me … a little scary.

  10. haha oh man, the food is the best part! especially the random ketchup bottle! aren’t they supposed to make it more adventurous and steal ketchup packets from fast food places along the way. Er, or is that just me?

Also I ALWAYS title things “blah blah ‘08.” It just makes it sound so much more official. Good job!

  11. What a great idea for a blog!!! Taco Bell is most definitely man food – I don’t think food comes more manly than that!
