Weekend Bliss
I love weekends. I wish everyday could be a weekend. I suppose a better description would be “I love days in which I don’t have to go to work.” That’s definitely a more accurate statement. T and I usually keep it pretty low key on the weekends. We watch movies, go out to eat, go grocery shopping, etc.
This weekend was no different. We had been thinking about going somewhere for a weekend getaway (Austin, Galveston, somewhere), but we didn’t. We don’t need to spend the money. And I think that he had suggested this idea from some guilt that had built up on his recent Wild West Vacation. Yeah-the one that didn’t include me.
Friday after work we went to the YMCA to work out. I take a step aerobic class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. T usually goes and does I don’t know what. He says he runs on the treadmill, but I think he sneaks into the game room and plays video games. After we hit the Y we came home and got ready for dinner. It’s sad to say but we usually go out to eat Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday. I know that’s not food for our health or our wallets. But seriously, in a City like this you can go to a new restaurant every day of the week. We like to try to restaurants and of course…we like to eat. I’ve come to terms with that fact. I enjoy putting food into my mouth! OK! We attempted to go to Uptown Sushi in downtown Houston, but it was a 45 minute wait. No thanks. We had heard that it’s a good restaurant so we wanted to try it out. It was so cool inside…very big city, very chic. We will try it again sometime and make reservations. We did get to see a sweet Ferrari parked outside. Nice. We walked across the street and went to an Italian restaurant called, Arturo’s. The food was OK. The service was sucky! I suppose it was just our waiter. Who didn’t get me a refill and didn’t ask us how the food was until after we were done. We won’t be going back. Plain and simple. There are so many other restaurants to try-why go back to a mediocre one? We came home and went watched Definitely, Maybe. I enjoyed it. Very cute. And it stars this guy!
Yummy!
Saturday didn’t get much more exciting. I woke up and spent almost the entire day searching and applying for jobs. I think I applied for at least 7 or 8. Come on people! CALL ME! I will spend the remainder of this week doing those annoying follow up calls. Fun. I was whining all day that Saturday as I wanted T to get off his butt and do something with me. I wanted to go to the park and play tennis. T pointed out the fact that we only have one racket and no tennis balls. After being lazy and staring at job postings all day, we decided to get off our butts and go eat. So that our butts can get bigger. We went to a BBQ joint called Lyndon’s Pit BBQ. It was OK. I had the half chicken plate and the chicken was really dry. I guess they figure that you smother it in sauce, so no one would notice how dry it was. After that we attempted to go Super Wal-Mart, but it was so freakin’ busy we didn’t even try it. I seriously hate going to Wal-Mart and I especially despise the one closest to our apartment. It’s so busy! We came home and I worked on more job applications and T played video games or something. That evening we went to Dairy Queen and got some ice cream. Ice cream is srsly my fave food group. I love it and have to have it every once in a while. I got a Peanut Buster Parfait and it was AMAZING.
Sunday was nice and relaxing. We slept in till Noon! I could sleep longer but my bladder only holds so much. We got up had breakfast (piece of peanut butter toast and yogurt with cereal) and watched Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Totally raunchy and stupid. Exactly what we expected. After the movie we went to the Post Oak YMCA and played racquetball!!!! Our regular Y across the street doesn’t have any courts so when we want to play we’ve got to drive about 15 minutes to another Y. We started playing racquetball in college after some friends taught us how to play. We have only played twice since we’ve been in Houston; which makes me sad. It’s such a fun sport to play. We played three games and T beat me all three times! But they weren’t easy wins. I’m actually pretty good at it. Right T!? RIGHT!? I think that his short stature helps him squirm around the court a little easier than myself. And he takes lots of cheap shots. Just sayin.’ I’m hoping that we can make it a habit to start playing racquetball every weekend. Well, every weekend that he’s home. When he’s gone I’ll just have to sit home and mope. Or find a sport that I can do by myself. Stripping? Possibly.
After the racquetball we came home, showered (individually) and then…..any guesses?….went out to eat. We went to a Japanese Steak House (we can’t remember the name). It was YUMMY and not too expensive. I had Teriyaki Chicken and a California Roll and T had Teriyaki Steak. It was one of those places that has the hibachi grills where the cooks prepare the food right in front of you. We didn’t do the hibachi table, but chose to sit at a side table. It would have been a little wierd with just the two of us. Maybe next time. We finally broke down and went to Wally World for a few groceries. Then we came home and finished off the evening with more job apps, more video games, more television, and more sleeping.
OK….I’m sorry that this post didn’t involve something more exciting like skydiving, or wine tasting classes, or plastic surgery. We lead rather boring lives.
And don’t pretend like you did something more exciting this weekend. Oh you did….? Maybe you should blog about it.
